"TREE OF LIFE" INSTALLATION PREVIEW HMNH members are invited to preview Tree of Life, a National Science Foundation-funded installation located in the HMNH EVOLUTION gallery. Explore 3.5 billion years of evolutionary history and over 70,000 species through a series of interactive multi-touch tabletop experiences and innovative visualizations. Zoom through a phylogenetic tree, called DeepTree, and with the swipe of your fingertip see how various organisms are related, such as how bald eagles are related to bananas. Interact with new technology first-hand and meet the scientists behind the project, including the project investigators, Chia Shen (Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences), Judy Diamond (University of Nebraska), Margaret Evans (University of Michigan), Michael Horn (Northwestern University), David P. Mindell (California Academy of Sciences), and advisors James Hanken, Gonzalo Giribet, Jonathan Losos, Hopi Hoekstra, and Andrew Berry from the Harvard Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology.
