The Mineralogical and Geological Museum Collections Office

Gold Branch specimen.

What do museum collections professionals actually do? Work with the staff from Harvard’s Mineralogical and Geological Museum to gain insight into the behind-the-scenes work of a museum team, from curator to database administrator. Open up the collections cabinets and use databases to answer scientific, educational and general queries. Update catalog information on historical collections. Take beautiful pictures of objects for magazines. Research the chemistry of gemstones to understand how gem deposits form.
