In-Person Youth Program, ages 13-18

Step into ancient history with a 3,000-year-old ball game played by the Olmec, Maya, and Aztec. This intense team sport, which used a heavy rubber ball, was played in stone ballcourts and players could only hit the ball with their hips—no hands or feet! The game had deep meaning, symbolizing the movement of the sun across the sky. In this workshop, you’ll learn the history and try your hand (actually hip) at the game!
Teen Saturdays Workshops are offered bilingually in Spanish and English and are designed to build community and enrich the museum experience for multicultural and Spanish-speaking teens.
The $10 fee includes free admission to all HMSC museums immediately following the workshop.
Teens receive a Harvard Museums of Science & Culture (HMSC) membership (worth $100) after attending three or more Teen Saturdays Workshops per semester. Or, receive a free admission pass (worth $15) for a return visit if you attend one of the four sessions.

Viaja al pasado y descubre un juego de pelota de hace 3,000 años que jugaban los olmecas, mayas y aztecas. Este intenso deporte en equipo se jugaba con una bola de goma súper pesada, en canchas de piedra, y los jugadores solo podían golpear la pelota con la cadera—¡nada de manos ni pies! El juego tenía un significado profundo, representando el movimiento del sol por el cielo. En este taller, aprenderás la historia y probarás tu habilidad (realmente la cadera) en el juego.
Los Talleres de Sábados de Jóvenes se ofrecen de manera bilingüe en español e inglés, y están diseñados para crear comunidad y enriquecer la experiencia en el museo para adolescentes multiculturales e hispanohablantes.
El costo de $10 incluye la entrada gratuita a todos los museos de Harvard Museums of Science & Culture (HMSC) inmediatamente después del taller.
